Keeping an eye on officials for 9 years
Tomasz doesn't like suits and difficult words. He started in 2015 by describing potholed roads around Siedlce and Mińsk Mazowiecki. Today at Frakcja Info, he deals with what happens close to the people. He checks why a municipality spent 12,400 PLN on a new sign instead of patching the sidewalk by the school. He simply pulls facts concretely from documents that no one else wants to read.
In 2024 alone, Tomasz analyzed 47 budget resolutions from three counties near Warsaw. He found errors there that would have cost residents a lot of money. He is not afraid to go to a city council session and ask straight out: what did our taxes go to? For him, the only thing that matters is that the average person knows what they are paying for. Without fluff, he translates complex regulations into a language that every neighbor understands.
Working as a local reporter is constant movement for him. In March, he spent 6 hours in the cold to check the progress of a bridge renovation requested by readers. Thanks to his intervention, the contractor shortened the work schedule by 11 days. Tomasz believes that small changes in the municipality have the greatest impact on our lives. We checked it at the source – his texts are read regularly by 318 people from just one district, because he writes about things that concern them.
When he's not in the field, he sits over figures. He can spot in 3 minutes whether a trash collection tender was rigged for one company. It's not magic, just experience and persistence. If something strange is happening with public cash in your area, Tomasz probably already knows about it or is currently asking about it. That's all there is to his approach to work – it must be reliable and understandable.
Privately, Tomasz lives in an apartment block and pays the same bills as everyone else. That's why he cares so much about guarding our collective money. He doesn't look for sensation where there is none. He looks for the truth in the numbers. If you see him with a notebook in front of the office, you can be sure that you will soon read about what the office tried to hide behind difficult words.
